Toxicological trivia from April 09, 2015: In botany, blossom is a term given to the flowers of stone fruit trees (genus Prunus) and of some other plants with a similar appearance that flower profusely for a period of time in spring. Colloquially flowers of orange are referred to as such as well. Blossom is the name of several white flowers, par excellence, of the orange, lemon or citrus. The name is popularly associated with orange blossom, the most prized for its beauty, aroma and properties traditionally considered therapeutic. The blossom is also distilled neroli essential oil. The so-called orange blossom water, an infusion of dried petals of orange blossom, has been used for centuries as a home remedy for menstrual discomfort. Other properties attributed to its use are:a) A sedative action;b) Slightly hypnotic, antispasmodic, appetizer-eupéptico and flavoring;c) Both previous assertions are correct.
