Toxicological Trivia from February 16, 2010: For the provision 6290/07 from ANMAT, laboratories holding certificates of medicinal containing orally administered fluoroquinolones, must update their prospectuses. The new warnings should clarify that after 48 hours of starting treatment with any drug, tendon ruptures could occur at the shoulder, hand and especially the Achilles tendon. The risk increases particulary in:
a) Patients over 65 years,
b) Which are or have been treated with corticosteroids,
c) Both previous assertions are correct.
