Caracterización de las consultas atendidas por el Centro de Toxicología de Angola en el periodo 2013 – 2017

Resumen
Las consecuencias de la exposición a agentes químicos es un motivo de preocupación de la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Cada país tiene la responsabilidad de velar por la salud de la población ante la presencia de sustancias tóxicas. Es esta una misión del Centro de Investigación e Información sobre Medicamentos y Toxicología de Angola conociendo además de que constituyen la base para futuras acciones. Objetivos: Caracterizar el comportamiento de las consultas atendidas en el centro durante el período 2013-2017, identificar el comportamiento de los casos según edad, sexo y circunstancia y definir las principales causas de intoxicación registradas en este período. Metodología: Se realizó un estudio longitudinal retrospectivo sobre las consultas atendidas anualmente desde el surgimiento del Departamento de Información Toxicológica de Urgencia en el año 2013 hasta la actualidad. Resultados: En este período se atendieron 16 917 consultas. El estudio refleja que existe un predominio del sexo femenino en las intoxicaciones. Sobresale el grupo etáreo de 20-40 años con un 39.7% y los menos afectados los mayores de 60 años. El mayor número de registros corresponde a la circunstancia accidental y la vía mordedura-inoculación teniendo en cuenta que fue la mordedura de serpientes la que llevó a más consultas en este periodo con un 29% de consultas. Las drogas de abuso y los plaguicidas fueron la segunda y tercera causa de consulta.

Abstract
Characterization of the queries attended by the Toxicology Center of Angola in the period 2013 – 2017
The effects by the action of chemical agents is a matter of concern of the World Health Organization. Each country has the responsibility of looking after the health of the population considering the presence of a chemical substance. It is a mission of the Research and information Center about medicaments and toxicology of Angola knowing that they constitute the basis of future actions.Objective: To characterize the behavior of consultations assisted by the center in the period 2013-2017, identify the behavior of the cases according to year, age, sex and circumstance and define the main ways of intoxication and of exposure reported in this period. Methodology: A retrospective and longitudinal study was carried out about the consultations assisted yearly since the information and toxicology department emerged in the year 2013 till the present. Results: In this period 16917 consultations were assisted. The study showed there is a predominance offemale sex in the intoxications. The age-group that excelled was 20-40 with a 39,7% and the least affected was the group older than 60 years. The highest number of reports goes to the accidental way and bite-inoculation way considering that snake bite was the one which had more consultations in this period with a 29% of consultations. Drug abuse and pesticide were the second and third cause of consultation.
