Toxicological Trivia from February 22, 2010: The Food and Drug Administration took action two years ago, against companies marketing unapproved injectable formulations of colchicine in U:S., a drug used to treat gout. There is a narrow margin between an effective dose and a toxic drug that can result in serious risk of death. This compound is highly toxic and can be easily administered in excessive doses, especially when it is administered through:
a) Intravenous;
b) Intramuscular;
c) Subcutaneous.
