Pet Owners Warned of Squirrel Poison on North Side Streets. myfoxchicago.com. March 22, 2012. North Side pet owners in the Rogers Park and Edgewater communities are being warned to be on the look out for squirrel poison. The poison may look like a pile of grounded beef from a distance, according to an email alert from pet services business Bark Bark Club and Rogers Bark Pet Salon. Someone is apparently putting the poison out in areas where people walk their dogs. Several dogs have eaten the poison and died, according to the emails. Pet owners are asked to report anything suspicious and warned to look out for the pellets.
