The mystery surrounding the poisonous chemical that tainted frozen "gyoza" meat and vegetable dumplings made in China deepened Friday as an extremely high density of the pesticide was detected in remaining samples from a family in the city of Chiba’s Inage Ward who fell ill after eating the product.According to research by Co-op Net, an association of cooperatives, the density of the detected pesticide was 130 parts per million, which is 100 to 400 times higher than Japanese food regulation standards for Chinese chives and cabbage, common ingredients for gyoza.[ See ]. Chinese dumplings poisoned 408 people in Japan, 1 of 2.Japanese got sick after ate dumplings imported from China.Tokyo Broadcasting System reported the suffered have reached 408 people until 12pm, 31 January UTC. Those dumplings are contaminated by insecticide called Methamidophos, and are made by Tianyang Food Processing, a big food company in Hebei province licensed by Chinese government.Chinese government immediately announced that they did not detect harmful chemicals at the food factory (http://english.gov.cn/2008-01/31/conten t_876411.htm).However, the sample is different from the lot that caused a problem, and it is not clarified whether the evaluated lot was produced after problem. The examination for chemical substance need crashing the sample, extraction, and concentration before analyze on gas chromatography; it is hard to think they report the result in a day.Besides, the announcement from Chinese embassy in Japan says the tests are under proceeding (http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/ce/cejp/jpn/xwd t/t404594.htm).
