Health’Secretary, Neuquen, Ar.April 2008.I wonder if you have any contribution to make in order to solve our need of information related a local possible poisoning with "neneo" (Mulinum spinosum), plant from the area of Comahue. The person made a cooking (not an infusion) with the plant, which was recommended to her (she is diabetic) because of its hypoglycaemic properties. Answer: This species is used as fodder for sheep’s [See the picture in wikipedia]. Dr. Alberto Gurni informs us as follows: "there are various species of Mulinum used to treat hyperglycemia. Since this is an herb that belongs to the family Apiaceae (formerly Umbelliferae), within which there are representatives that, indeed, shows toxicity, it could be possible that some component may be responsible for the clinical manifestations of the patient”.  If any extra information can be given on the subject, we will be grateful.
